Ukraine carried out a coordinated overnight strike campaign targeting Russian logistics around the Kerch Strait, hitting fuel terminals, oil infrastructure, ferry facilities, and even S-400 and Pantsir air defense systems positioned near or on the Kerch Bridge itself. Rather than destroying the bridge, Ukraine appears focused on isolating Crimea and making it increasingly difficult for Russia to supply the peninsula. At the same time, Ukrainian long-range strike capabilities continue to expand, with reports of 3,000-kilometer-range drones reaching deep into Russia. Meanwhile, Russia launched more than 100 drones and multiple ballistic missiles against Ukraine, causing civilian casualties across several regions. The bigger story, however, may be what happens next: fuel restrictions, transportation bottlenecks, and mounting economic pressure inside occupied Crimea.

The reported strike on the offshore support vessel Nefrit in Sochi highlights how Ukraine is testing Black Sea port defenses far beyond its own coastline, while drone activity again disrupted Moscow airports.

Ukraine sent 440 drones toward Russia and occupied territory overnight—more than three times the number Russia sent toward Ukraine. And enough got through to hit a major refinery 1,300 kilometers from the border, another Wildberries logistics hub, infrastructure in Crimea, and Russian military targets.

The overnight strikes were only part of the story. Russia’s Orsk refinery may now remain shut for months, Ukraine says it struck Russian drone-control infrastructure in occupied Crimea, and new battlefield reporting shows Ukrainian forces reclaiming territory even as competing maps give sharply different pictures of Russian gains. Ukraine is setting the conditions for phase four of their counteroffensive in the east, operation Vivaldi. Put simply, there’s more good news to come. Russia’s challenges in that direction aren’t improving and there’s a fair argument they’re getting worse. It’s becoming clear that they cannot keep front line elements supplied and the chain of commanded needed to fixt that is just broken.

That’s really positive for Ukraine but we can’t lose sight of the larger picture which isn’t great.

Russian deep strikes have intensified and become more complex as it looks like Russia hopes to shut off power, heat and water to Ukraine’s largest cities this winter. That’s a humanitarian disaster looming in the very near future.

The US military has a drone problem and the solution sits in Ukraine.

It’s not the tech or the manufacturing, both items that we could tackle and scale tomorrow. It’s adaptation. Warfare right now is changing faster than any time in history.

What works today, may not work tomorrow. With how long it takes us to develop and deploy new technologies, it’s likely that what we roll out to our soldiers is best case no longer the ideal solution, worst case, it’s already outdated, bordering on useless.

One company that’s working to resolve this issue of rapid adaptation is Delian. Delian is a European defense company that builds their products in Ukraine based on real time feedback from the front and are showing how this method could be adopted by other countries around the world.

Today we’re joined by Mark Melhorn the Head of Air Systems at Delian to better understand what they’re doing and how it could be a model for more companies to follow.

So Russia just rolled out some pretty impressive new technology and it sort of worked then didn’t.
It’s a new drone defense system, the Arena M, and it sounds like it may have perfectly intercepted some Ukrainian drones flying at Russian tanks. Problem is, they were facing hundreds and the system was overwhelmed.

I don’t think people fully understand how big of a problem Russia is facing right now. It's been a while since I’ve seen this many Russian commentators and analysts worried about the same issue: logistics. They’re not getting to the front. As one milblogger put it, “The situation is worsening every week” While others complained that now is the time to actually start the real war and even questioning whether Putin actually understands the situation at the front. Because surely if he did, these problems would be resolved. But they’re not, and the path to isolating Crimea and the southern occupied territories is becoming clear.

Logistics are boring, I get it. But if you can’t secure your supply lines, you can’t hold terrain. Which means this ‘little problem’ Russia is dealing with, actually threatens the entire war effort.
