در قسمت سوم «ردپا»، می‌ریم سراغ تاریخ زندان؛ از سیاه‌چال‌ها و قلعه‌های قدیمی تا زندان‌هایی با سلول‌های منظم، دیوارهای بلند و سیستم‌های امنیتی پیچیده.

رد زندان رو در دنیای باستان و ایران قدیم دنبال می‌کنیم، سراغ داستان «قلعهٔ فراموشی» می‌ریم و می‌بینیم چطور حبس کردن، به‌مرور خودش به یک مجازات تبدیل شد. بعد به زندان معروف آلکاتراز می‌رسیم و در ادامه، نگاهی به زندان‌های امروزی آلمان و نروژ می‌اندازیم؛ جاهایی که ظاهر و ساختارشون با تصویری که از یک زندان قدیمی داریم، خیلی فرق می‌کنه.
