Iran-backed Houthi forces have launched major ballistic missile and drone attacks as the war in Yemen dramatically escalates. David Hookstead breaks down the reported attacks targeting multiple airports, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Aden International Airport, where a ballistic missile reportedly struck the runway shortly before a passenger plane was scheduled to land.

The situation is rapidly escalating across the region as Houthi forces battle the internationally recognized government of Yemen and Saudi Arabia. This video covers the latest missile strikes, airport attacks, battlefield developments in Yemen, fighting near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and an updated look at the shifting battle lines.

Also covered: mysterious aircraft reportedly flying into Iran, new explosions and missile activity around the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian drone activity, the threat to shipping and oil routes, internal fighting involving Iranian forces, and the latest comments from President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about Iran and the widening conflict.

Always crazy to hear what these guys are doing at the front

Two weeks ago we learned about Ukraine’s Operation Vivaldi, their counteroffensive in the east. And today, we’re joined by one of their battalion commanders that took part in those clearance operations.

Darwin is the commander of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion, 125th Mechanized Brigade of the 3rd Army Corps. We get into how his unit identified Russian positions to clear out, the feeling among his men as they liberated new territory and how infantry tactics have changed during the war.

I examine Ukraine’s reported overnight drone raid into Russia, including damage and disruption at Yandex’s Sosovo data center in the Ryazan region, drones pushing toward the Omsk refinery, and a fire at Gazprom Nevkhim Salavat in Bashkortostan. Omsk processes roughly 440,000 barrels per day and supplies major shares of Russia’s gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel; Salavat is also a major refining and petrochemical complex supporting Russian forces. I also track the continuing fire at the Samara oil-pumping station.

I then assess the other side of this exchange: Russia’s Shahed attacks, Ukraine’s reported interception rate, Quantum Systems’ SPYS interceptor-drone plans, and a MiG-29 intercept. On the ground, I look at Ukrainian FPV attacks on Russian equipment, the Frodo evacuation robot, and more than 3,000 Russian trucks and vehicles reportedly hit on key southern roads since May 2026. The strategic question is whether strikes on data, fuel, and road logistics can impose durable costs on Russia’s war effort.

The Omsk Refinery, Russia's largest, has been hit and is burning profusely after Ukrainian drones travelled 1,600 miles into Russia to knock it out. This is expected to cause further issues for the Russian Federation amid their ongoing fuel exercise. Houthi strikes have slammed in the King Khalid international airport, destroying a Saudi Cargo Airbus A-310. The Royal Saudi Air Force has continued airstrikes in support of the Yemeni government, hitting areas along the frontlines and the airport at Sanaa, stopping an Iranian government flight from landing. Meanwhile Ukraine has successfully stopped a Russian encirclement at Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, with Russia preparing to destroy all 7 bridges across the Dnipro in Kyiv, and fortifying the Crimean bridge.
