خلاصه:
توافق تازه دونالد ترامپ و ولادیمیر پوتین برای سرازیر شدن گازوئیل روسیه به بازار آمریکا، با مخالفت همزمان سناتورهای جمهوری‌خواه و دموکرات روبه‌رو شده است. هفت سناتور آمریکایی می‌گویند این توافق با قانونی که پس از حمله روسیه به اوکراین تصویب شد مغایرت دارد و باید فوری لغو شود. در مقابل، دولت ترامپ می‌گوید برای اجرای این توافق از تمام اختیارات قانونی خود استفاده خواهد کرد و وعده داده است ورود حجم عظیمی از سوخت روسیه، قیمت دیزل را در آمریکا و بازارهای جهانی کاهش دهد.
همزمان حملات حوثی‌ها به فرودگاه‌های ریاض و دمام و تاسیسات آرامکو ادامه دارد. در پی این حملات ۱۴ نفر کشته شده‌اند و فعالیت فرودگاه ریاض همچنان متوقف است. ترکیه، پاکستان، مصر و عربستان این حملات را تشدید خطرناک تنش‌ها خوانده‌اند. شاهزاده رضا پهلوی نیز جمهوری اسلامی را مسئول جنگ‌افروزی و بی‌ثبات‌سازی منطقه دانسته و گفته است اقدامات حوثی‌ها زمانی پایان می‌یابد که ایران آزاد شود.
تنش در تنگه هرمز نیز وارد مرحله تازه‌ای شده است. یک نفتکش حامل ۱۱ ملوان هندی در نزدیکی بندر صحار عمان هدف حمله پهپادی قرار گرفته و سپاه پاسداران نیز از هدف قرار گرفتن سومین نفتکش غول‌پیکر طی دو روز خبر داده است. سپاه هشدار داده هر کشتی تجاری یا نفتکشی که با ارتش آمریکا همکاری کند با برخورد قاطع روبه‌رو خواهد شد. نام نفتکش هدف قرارگرفته و جزییات این حمله هنوز به‌طور مستقل تایید نشده است.
در جبهه سیاسی، اسماعیل بقایی از ادامه تبادل پیام با آمریکا و بررسی آخرین پیشنهاد واشینگتن خبر داده است. محسن رضایی نیز ادعا کرده آمریکا بعضی از شروط جمهوری اسلامی را پذیرفته، اما هنوز ابهام‌هایی باقی مانده است. این تحولات در حالی رخ می‌دهد که نتانیاهو نشست ویژه امنیتی درباره ایران برگزار کرده و ارتش اسرائیل برای سه سناریو آماده می‌شود. حمله مستقل به ایران، عملیات مشترک با آمریکا و مقابله با پاسخ موشکی احتمالی تهران.
در داخل جمهوری اسلامی هم تهدیدهای تازه‌ای علیه اینترنت جهانی مطرح شده است. حسین شریعتمداری خواستار قطع کابل‌های فیبر نوری در خلیج فارس و تنگه هرمز شده و خبرگزاری تسنیم پیشنهاد کرده است شرکت‌هایی مانند گوگل، متا، مایکروسافت و آمازون برای عبور کابل‌های اینترنتی از آب‌های ایران عوارض بپردازند. تسنیم حتی هشدار داده کابل‌هایی که در عملیات نظامی نقش داشته باشند، ممکن است هدف نظامی تلقی شوند.
همزمان یک عضو هیات‌رییسه مجلس گفته جنگ پیش روی جمهوری اسلامی است و به این زودی تمام نخواهد شد. رییس کمیسیون آموزش مجلس نیز با استناد به همین شرایط جنگی گفته اکنون زمان مناسبی برای اعتراض و تجمع نیست. پزشکیان هم از احتمال کشته شدن مقام‌ها سخن گفته و همزمان اعتراف کرده است ادامه فروش بنزین با قیمت ۱۵۰۰ تومان ممکن نیست.

I examine an extraordinary October 5 battlefield tally: 727 Russian vehicles and fuel tanks reported destroyed, 2,020 Russian personnel losses, 4,687 total targets struck, and 637 Russian troops reportedly hit by Ukraine’s unmanned systems forces. These records came on a day with only 177 combat engagements, well below the recent average—raising an important question about Russia’s slowing pace of territorial advances in 2026.

I also track the overnight drone war. Russia launched 205 UAVs at Ukraine, including 49 jet-powered Shahed-type drones, while an energy strike in Poltava Oblast left 22,000 customers without power. Ukrainian forces reportedly struck Russian UAV infrastructure, command posts, and a depot in occupied territory, alongside reported Su-34 and Su-35 losses. I assess Ukraine’s AI-enabled gun turrets and anti-drone road tunnels against Russia’s evolving defenses, including barrage balloons intended to protect oil refineries from drones.

Ukraine just carried out significant strikes in the St. Petersburg area on the opening day of the International Economic Forum. An oil refinery was hit, giving quite the show to the guests traveling in from around the world and then a corvette was struck in the same area. These targets are 1,000 km inside of Russian territory and their getting hit highlights the challenge that Russia is experiencing in defending all of their territory from Ukrainian drones.

The Iran war turned hot again overnight as Tehran launched more than 20 ballistic missiles at Israel in response to IDF strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon. While President Trump urged restraint, Israel went ahead with their retaliation, hitting targets across Iran prompting a warning from the IRGC that all regional energy infrastructure may now be targeted. Also, the Houthis are back in. They launched missiles at Israel and have now partially shut down the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
