Clint Eastwood's second film as a director finds the celebrated action star returning to his familiar Old West stomping grounds and his internationally acclaimed role of "The Man With No Name." This time, The Stranger (Clint Eastwood) mysteriously appears out of the heat waves of the desert and rides into the lawless, sin-ridden town of Lago. After making a name for himself with a string of blazing gun battles, The Stranger is hired by the townspeople to provide protection from three ruthless gunmen just out of jail. The Stranger quickly proceeds to paint the entire town bright red, rename it "Hell," and supply divine retribution in the fiery, pulse-pounding climax of this acclaimed western shoot-em-up.

A haunting firsthand account from Cape Fiolent describes late-summer Crimea as almost deserted—silent streets, parked cars, burning land, incoming drones, and residents seemingly detached from the war unfolding around them. Greg examines why this reported “ghost town” atmosphere may be one of the clearest signs yet of how Ukraine’s campaign is changing daily life across occupied Crimea.

The update also covers Russian attacks on Sloviansk, Odesa, Kyiv, and Ukrainian civilian and logistics infrastructure. Meanwhile, a report attributed to The Economist claims Vladimir Putin fears that failure in Ukraine could threaten his own survival—and may be preparing to send hundreds of thousands more Russians into the war.

Greg connects that report with warnings from Ukraine’s defense leadership, Russia’s still-active 2022 mobilization decree, and Putin’s latest increase in Federal Protective Service personnel. Together, these developments raise a critical question: Is mounting pressure in Crimea and inside the Kremlin pushing Putin toward an even more dangerous escalation?

278. Los Angeles Crisis: Streets, Storms, and a Healthcare System in Collapse – Documentary 2025

Los Angeles Crisis: Streets, Storms, and a Healthcare System in Collapse – Documentary 2025 exposes a city facing multiple emergencies at once. As one of America’s most influential and wealthy metropolitan areas, Los Angeles is increasingly defined not by opportunity, but by instability—where homelessness, climate disasters, and a strained healthcare system collide on the streets.

This documentary follows the daily reality unfolding across Los Angeles, from sprawling encampments and overcrowded emergency rooms to neighborhoods battered by storms, floods, and extreme heat. Climate change has intensified natural disasters, pushing already vulnerable populations further into crisis while hospitals and public health services struggle to keep up with demand. What was once a safety net is now fraying under pressure.

Through raw street-level footage and real-world observation, the film reveals how homelessness, untreated mental illness, and addiction intersect with a healthcare system stretched beyond capacity. Ambulance wait times grow longer, emergency wards overflow, and preventative care becomes a luxury many can no longer access. The streets become both a symptom and a consequence of systemic failure.

This 2025 documentary also examines the deeper causes behind the collapse: rising housing costs, gaps in public health funding, fragmented policy responses, and a lack of long-term solutions. As storms grow stronger and living conditions worsen, the city’s most fragile residents are left exposed to both environmental and institutional neglect.

Los Angeles Crisis does not offer simple answers. Instead, it confronts viewers with uncomfortable questions about responsibility, preparedness, and the future of urban life in America. Can a city built on scale and spectacle adapt to overlapping crises, or is it approaching a breaking point? This film documents a city struggling to survive its own contradictions, as the systems meant to protect people begin to fail in real time.

Recently, a Ukrainian raid proved far more successful than simply winning ground, setting a domino effect in motion that beheaded a crucial section of the Russian frontline and left several gaps wide open. It all began when Ukrainian operators attacked and cleared a Russian strongpoint in the forest of the Li-man direction. Ukrainian soldiers can be seen wearing ghillie suits to blend into the forest, helping them avoid detection by Russian soldiers and reconnaissance drones simultaneously while they are moving forward. Modern ghillie suits are also tailored to dampen heat signature, which further reduces the possibility of being detected by thermal drones. After stealthily moving through thick vegetation, the Ukrainian soldiers reached the Russian strongpoint, as the poor trash discipline evident from the visible empty cans they left all over the position had revealed the Russian presence. As the Ukrainian operators pushed deeper, they quickly came into contact with two Russian soldiers in the next dugout. After a fierce firefight broke out, the Ukrainians killed the Russian infiltrators and pushed deeper to fully clear the position. Ukrainians took off jackets and gear so they could go through the intelligence from cover, instead of out in the open. They captured documents, maps, and radios that the Russians had on them. This kind of captured intelligence and sensitive equipment is extremely valuable, as Ukrainians use this to tap into Russian communications and listen in on commanders revealing key information.

After tapping into the Russian communications, the Ukrainians were able to track down the commander of Russia’s thirty sixth Motor Rifle Regiment. They followed the exact movements of the commander, mapped out his routine, and patiently waited until he was exposed. The ideal moment to strike came while he was completely vulnerable and exposed on the road, as there is no option to quickly hide or run away, with cars often driving over one hundred kilometers per hour on damaged roads to reduce travel time and minimize exposure to Ukrainian observation. However, this did not save him this time, as a Ukrainian kamikaze drone closed in on the commander's car and hit it over eighty-seven kilometers behind the front line near the settlement of Dmitrivka. As a result of the successful Ukrainian drone strike, the newly appointed regiment commander was heavily wounded, and three of his staff travelling with him sustained injuries as well and were out of commission, effectively beheading the entire Russian regiment with a single drone.

This is crucial because now this Russian regiment has lost its commander and his entire entourage, leaving its command without an immediate replacement. By wounding the commander's second, third, and fourth replacements as well, it will be hard to reinstate the command of the regiment and find other subordinates who can do their duty. This is particularly damaging because Russian command remains highly centralized and junior officers generally have limited freedom to make decisions without approval from higher headquarters, effectively paralyzing the full regiment. That paralysis quickly spreads beyond the headquarters itself because this regiment is currently responsible for advancing through the forests toward Lyman, with multiple assault groups relying on the headquarters to coordinate their movements and direct artillery, drone, and aviation support. Once that command structure is disrupted, communications begin breaking down, assault groups lose coordination, and supporting fires become delayed or unavailable. Because modern frontlines are tightly interconnected, the neighboring units depend on each other to secure their flanks. If one regiment suddenly becomes static because its leadership has been removed, the formations on either side become exposed. They must either divert forces to cover the growing gap or continue advancing while risking encirclement. This creates exactly the opportunity Ukraine is looking for because now, Ukrainian forces can exploit these weak points, maneuver through the emerging gaps, outflank neighboring Russian units, and threaten their rear. In this way, the elimination of a single regiment commander can trigger a chain reaction across the sector, disrupting the Russian offensive and potentially undoing months of hard-fought progress, or at the least massively delaying their efforts.

Overall, this operation demonstrates that Ukraine is increasingly targeting the Russian military's decision-making rather than just its frontline positions. By combining intelligence gathered during a small infantry raid with precision drone strikes, Ukrainian forces can paralyze entire formations at minimal cost...

136. From Tents to Trauma: How Fentanyl Fuels Wichita’s Homeless Spiral - Homeless in America

From tents to trauma, the story of Wichita’s streets reveals how fentanyl fuels a deeper crisis, turning a fragile homeless spiral into a cycle of survival and despair. At first glance, rows of tents may look like a temporary refuge, but behind the canvas walls lie stories of trauma, relapse, and loss. The fentanyl epidemic has quietly invaded these encampments, gripping lives and accelerating Wichita’s homeless crisis. What was once a matter of shelter and poverty is now entangled with the deadliest drug on the streets.

Fentanyl’s silent presence reshapes the city’s social fabric. First responders describe daily encounters with overdoses, often in the same areas where shelters are already overwhelmed. Families who once searched for affordable housing now fear losing loved ones to addiction. It is not just Wichita’s problem—it mirrors the broader reality of homeless in America, where substance abuse and lack of resources collide. Each tent tells a story not only about poverty but also about the power of fentanyl to strip away hope.

As this homeless spiral continues, trauma spreads like a shadow. Nonprofits and outreach workers speak of burnout as they attempt to revive individuals who overdose multiple times in a week. The cost is not only counted in lives lost but also in communities strained by compassion fatigue. Still, amid this storm, small sparks of resilience emerge: recovery programs, volunteer networks, and city initiatives working to break the cycle. Yet, the scale of Wichita’s homeless crisis makes clear that this is part of a national emergency—proof that homeless in America cannot be separated from the fentanyl epidemic. Without bold action, the tents will multiply, the trauma will deepen, and the spiral will continue to define what it means to be homeless in America today.
