Sergey Lavrov used the United Nations podium in New York to launch a sweeping attack on the United States, Europe, NATO, and Ukraine—while defending Russia’s war as being fully consistent with the UN Charter.

In this episode, I break down Lavrov’s speech in context: his accusations against the United States over Venezuela and Iran, his claims that the West is destabilizing the world, his attack on Germany and Europe, and his extraordinary allegations about Ukraine, Nazism, language rights, and Western military support.

Most importantly, we examine Russia’s central justification for its invasion of Ukraine and Lavrov’s insistence that Moscow will continue its fight “regardless of any circumstances.” I also explain why his final argument about one country’s security coming at the expense of another cuts directly into Russia’s own justification for creating security and buffer zones inside Ukraine.

Thank You for Standing With Ukraine
https://ukrainesupportbridge.com/

A haunting firsthand account from Cape Fiolent describes late-summer Crimea as almost deserted—silent streets, parked cars, burning land, incoming drones, and residents seemingly detached from the war unfolding around them. Greg examines why this reported “ghost town” atmosphere may be one of the clearest signs yet of how Ukraine’s campaign is changing daily life across occupied Crimea.

The update also covers Russian attacks on Sloviansk, Odesa, Kyiv, and Ukrainian civilian and logistics infrastructure. Meanwhile, a report attributed to The Economist claims Vladimir Putin fears that failure in Ukraine could threaten his own survival—and may be preparing to send hundreds of thousands more Russians into the war.

Greg connects that report with warnings from Ukraine’s defense leadership, Russia’s still-active 2022 mobilization decree, and Putin’s latest increase in Federal Protective Service personnel. Together, these developments raise a critical question: Is mounting pressure in Crimea and inside the Kremlin pushing Putin toward an even more dangerous escalation?

The midterms are about 50 days away, and Democrats continue to search for ways to gain back control of the House and Senate. Their answer may come from the conflict in Iran.

Iran is most likely planning an October surprise of their own to shock Americans and hurt Republicans in the November elections.

Democrats are all for it. But will that surprise be enough to give Democrats control of Congress until the end of Trump’s second term?

The Houthis are on the march

So the Houthis are kind of winning right now in Yemen. Just a few days ago we had regional analysts wondering if the Iranian backed group was on the verge of collapse, but we blink and they’ve just taken some very strategic territory. One local official summed up it by saying, “it’s really bad”. For Yemeni government forces that is, as the Houthis continue to advance.

A startling new poll finds that more than four in 10 voters ages 18 to 24 hold a positive view of Sharia law—a result Victor Davis Hanson sees as part of a much deeper failure in American education and civic knowledge.

From rising antisemitism and the political attitudes of younger Americans to shifting momentum in California and the 2026 midterms, the country is entering a period of growing cultural and political uncertainty.

Victor Davis Hanson and Jack Fowler also examine the controversial Cornell case, separating questions of criminal liability from the moral collapse surrounding campus hookup culture and the political forces now surrounding the case.
