In this video, we break down a disturbing pattern seen across some of the most powerful authoritarian leaders in the world. The pursuit of total control doesn’t lead to freedom—it creates a system that traps everyone inside it, including the leader. From the removal of restraints to the rise of loyalty over truth, this analysis explores how rejecting accountability produces something far worse: a self-made prison. Drawing from political realities, historical patterns, and deeper moral reasoning, we explain why these systems often collapse under their own weight—and why the people at the top may be the most trapped of all.

00:00 The idea: control becomes a trap
01:10 What authoritarianism actually does
03:20 Escaping restraint vs losing freedom
05:40 Truth gets replaced by narrative
08:10 Loyalty replaces competence
10:40 Why leaders become isolated
13:10 The system turns on itself
15:30 Real-world examples (Putin, Xi, Kim)
17:50 Why this keeps happening
19:10 The deeper “hell” framework
20:30 What this means going forward

Tonight on *24 with Fardad Farahzad* Iran is seeing a heightened security presence as the third-tier gasoline price doubles to 10,000 tomans per liter. Reports indicate deployments of special police and Basij forces around fuel stations in several cities, alongside slower internet speeds, amid concerns that worsening economic conditions could trigger renewed unrest. Meanwhile, Washington is intensifying its economic campaign, sanctioning dozens of companies linked to Iran’s aviation industry, while Trump says Tehran has no chance of obtaining a nuclear weapon and describes the U.S. maritime blockade as highly effective. The program also examines Tehran’s attempt to change the rules of the conflict by highlighting new missile capabilities and the possibility of targeting U.S. warships, raising concerns about another escalation in the confrontation.

Crudely constructed Bedouin-style tents made from scraps of discarded waste stretch as far as the eye can see.

Scenic Playa Del Trampolin is a hive of activity under the blazing north African sun drenching the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

But no-one here will be writing ‘wish you were here’ postcards to their relatives.

In fact, if hell had a beach, this would be it.

Over the past decade, I have filed reports from migrant camps across Europe – mainly from northern France and Greece – and in all my years as a journalist, I have never seen anything like this.

"IRON AND WOLF" by Olivia Asserson is out now on all streaming platforms. Turn it up and let the old ground ring.

Thanks you for your comments. Enjoy listening!

Lyrics :
Hah... hah...
Ivar, hold the line
Uh

The mountain stands like a closed fist
Iron sky, a frozen wrist
I've walked for days with bleeding feet
Following where the wolves retreat
Ivar told me before he fell
"The summit keeps its secrets well"

My hands are iron, my heart is stone
But even iron cries alone
Climb through the storm

We rise for Ivar, we rise through pain
Iron and wolf, blood and rain
Somewhere a dragon sleeps in stone
Guarding a peak we call our own
Tears on the mountain, tears in the snow
This is the only way we know

The wolves are howling at my back
Pushing me on, holding the track
I hear the dragon breathe below
Sleeping beneath the ancient snow
Ivar's shield is strapped to mine
I carry his name up every line

My hands are iron, my heart is stone
But even iron cries alone
Climb through the storm

We rise for Ivar, we rise through pain
Iron and wolf, blood and rain
Somewhere a dragon sleeps in stone
Guarding a peak we call our own
Tears on the mountain, tears in the snow
This is the only way we know

Hah, oh
I didn't come this far to kneel
Every scar, a promise I keep real
The wolf still runs, the iron still bends
This mountain knows no bitter end

We rise for Ivar, we rise through pain
Iron and wolf, blood and rain
Tears on the mountain, tears in the snow
This is the only way we know

Hah-hah-hah, hah-hah-hah
Ivar, we made it home
The mountain remains... the mountain remains...
