Ukraine had another REALLY GOOD NIGHT
I examine the reported October 31 Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s Ufa oil refinery in Bashkortostan and the Kamensky Combine in Rostov Oblast. Ufa is far from the Ukrainian border, while the Kamensky facility reportedly produces solid rocket propellant for Uragan, Smerch, and Tornado-S systems. I also look at reported disruption around Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, a fire near a Rosneft oil depot, and the significance of strikes on supply and chemical-storage facilities.
I contrast these deep strikes with Russia’s continuing campaign against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Reported attacks hit heat and power facilities in Kyiv, substations in the Dnipro region, railways, and a gas facility, leaving more than 280,000 households without electricity as winter approaches. I put the refinery campaign, Russian drone-interception claims, gas-station strikes, casualty estimates, the rejected March 2025 ceasefire, and Russia’s reported military salary delays into strategic context.
