Shot under the direction of Shadi Amini with cinematography by Ryan Seif and dance by Tara Pandeya, Azam Ali’s vision for the video evokes the grandeur of Mughal-era aesthetics, rich architecture, expressive movement, and lush visuals, as a metaphor for collective healing and the reclaiming of freedom.

I am of the soil, yet this soil is not of my flesh and soul,
It seems this nation of wrath is no longer my own.
Here, pen, honor, and law have all been broken,
And with a colorless flag, they have settled on our home
They stole the steps from beneath the people's feet,
Took away their vote, breath, and rights by deceit
The poem we once sang, they stole with a hundred lies
Then played it everywhere with a tune of disguise.
With axe in hand, they tore open this garden’s chest,
And birds of hope fled every branch and nest.
They stole the blessings from this grief-stricken land,
This ancient home now drowned in sorrow and torment
From its majestic history, only ruin remains,
A garden full of blight and disease is all that’s left.
From the tribe of Rostam, Sohrab, and Siavash,
Alas, just a hundred grieving men are left behind.

Yet tulips, jasmine, and cypress stood firm in resistance.

اثری ماندگار از عارف قزوینی، شاعر و موسیقیدان است که برای نخستینبار در سالهای پرآشوب پس از انقلاب مشروطه اجرا شد.
سرودی در ستایش شجاعت و اندوه از دستدادن فرزندان این سرزمین، که خونشان در راه آزادی بر خاک وطن نشست.
این تصنیف با صدای نسلهای گوناگون بازخوانی شد و هر بار، زخمی تازه از تاریخ بر دل داشت.
پرستو احمدی، نخستین بار در آبان ۹۸، در میان فضای اندوه و خشم آن روزها، بازسرایی تازهای از این قطعه آفرید؛ بازخوانی او، نه تنها یادآور گذشته، که پژواک خون جوانان آبان ۹۸ بود؛ پیوندی میان گذشته و اکنون، میان آواز و اعتراض.
اجرایی که الان مشاهده میکنید نسخهای دیگر از این آهنگ توسط پرستو احمدی در کاروانسرا است که سال گذشته منتشر شد.

“Az Khoon-e Javanān” (From the Blood of the Youth) is an enduring work by Aref Qazvini, the poet and composer, first performed during the turbulent years following the Constitutional Revolution of Iran between 1905 and 1911.
A song in praise of courage and in mourning for the loss of this land’s children — those whose blood was shed on the soil of the homeland in the name of freedom.
This song has been reinterpreted by many generations, each time bearing a new wound from the nation’s history.
In November 2019, Parastoo Ahmadi created a new rendition of this piece amid the sorrow and anger of those days.
Her performance not only evoked the memory of the past, but also echoed the blood of the young lives lost in November 2019 in Iran — a bridge between past and present, between song and protest.
The performance you’re watching is another rendition of this song by Parastoo Ahmadi, from her Karvansara concert, released last year.
