Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of “The Odyssey” has been drawing a lot of attention but not necessarily for good reasons.

Actress Lupita Nyong’o, set to play Helen of Troy in the film, complained in an interview that Homer didn’t include enough women in his play.

In actuality, “The Odyssey” was one of the most pro-women works for its time period.

Nolan’s film has also received criticism for its controversial casting choices, including giving the role of a famed Greek warrior to transgender actor Elliot Page.

Nolan’s adaptation releases Friday, July 17.

Only time will tell whether the film stayed true to Homer’s vision.

In California, Xavier Becerra canceled his second debate and is banking on union-driven mail ballots to overcome a tightening race with Steve Hilton.

In Texas, Talarico has disappeared from public events for weeks, hiding from questions about his far-left record.

Both are following the Kamala Harris playbook—stay out of sight, avoid unscripted moments, and let the political machine do the work.

History’s Greatest Mysteries

A New York Times columnist is now blaming President Trump for creating the culture that led to the Cornell 7.

But a better observation would examine the history of presidential misconduct, the influence of rap music on cultural attitudes toward women, and the feminist movement's own role in shaping the very culture it now decries.

“As a general rule, any single woman should not go to a frat party after 10 o'clock in the evening. That's what I would say. And then you say, Well, why can't you? It's the same thing like I won't walk in downtown Fresno after nine o'clock on an evening. I just wouldn't do it. Because I'm not dumb.”

Riots across Europe are exposing deep divisions over immigration, assimilation and national identity. From mounting cultural tensions to economic pressures and security concerns, Europe faces difficult questions about its borders, its values and its future.

As similar debates intensify in the United States, Europe’s struggles raise serious questions about the consequences of failed integration and what lies ahead for the West.

Public sympathy for Lindsay Clancy reflects a broader culture that searches for explanations when women commit horrific acts while increasingly treating men as presumptively guilty or disposable.

He contends that these attitudes—combined with years of attacks on masculinity and unequal expectations in relationships and institutions—are helping convince a generation of young men to withdraw from dating, marriage, and family life, argues Victor Davis Hanson on tomorrow’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words”

Victor Davis Hanson also argues that Democrats increasingly embraced policies once associated with the socialist left, only to watch candidates distance themselves from the socialist label when competing beyond safely Democratic constituencies.

He contrasts that political repositioning with Donald Trump’s unapologetic style, arguing that voters may dislike what Trump says but rarely have to wonder whether he actually means it.

Victor Davis Hanson and Jack Fowler evaluate Tucker Carlson’s recent comments praising Maine Democrat Senate candidate Graham Platner, focusing on allegations about Platner’s past Nazi tattoo, extremist social-media statements, anti-Israel rhetoric, elite background, and questions about running for Senate while reportedly receiving 100% PTSD disability benefits.

They discuss claims of election-related misconduct in Maine, including statements that non-citizens are registered to vote and the secretary of state’s refusal to provide voter files to the Justice Department.

Hanson argues Democrats pursue structural power changes when they doubt electability and compares right- and left-wing fringe figures’ treatment in elite institutions.

The episode also covers disruptions of Federalist Society events at UCLA and Stanford, university responses to identifying protesters, concerns about declining standards and “prolonged adolescence,” migration from blue to red states, and a Rhode Island federal judge ordering release of an illegal alien wanted for murder, alongside ICE arrests of criminal aliens in Minnesota.

Victor Davis Hanson hosts Eli and Shelby Steele to discuss Eli’s documentary "White Guilt" (based on Shelby Steele’s work) and argue that “white guilt” is a collective, transactional form of redemption that stigmatizes whites as racist and gives political and cultural power to those who enforce an oppressor-victim binary.

They trace its emergence to the civil-rights era’s moral framing of racism, contend it discourages real integration while fueling paternalism, and say it has expanded beyond Black-white history to include many groups claiming victim status.

The conversation touches on immigration and demographic change, tribalism versus American civic identity, class divisions within Black America, “race/black fatigue,” campus dynamics, and the need for courage to reject racial essentialism.

Alexander Vindman, when he was on the National Security Council, claimed that he heard President Donald Trump issue an ultimatum to Zelenskyy, which became a cornerstone of Trump’s first impeachment inquiry.

We now know that he lied.

Unfortunately for Vindman, all of his previous politicking for the radical Left couldn’t secure him a Senate seat in Florida’s upcoming senatorial race.

Marco Rubio’s speech in Athens delivered a powerful message about the importance of defending Western civilization and preserving its legacy.

Tracing the West’s roots from ancient Greece and Rome to the founding of the United States, the speech highlights the achievements of Western culture, including the rule of law, constitutional government and free-market capitalism.

But with declining confidence in Western values, anti-Western ideologies and growing threats from within and abroad, the future of Western civilization is increasingly uncertain.

How did a city once attacked by Islamic terrorists elect an islamist mayor 25 years later?

Victor Davis Hanson and Sami Winc explore the changing political ideologies from 2001 to 2026 in the context of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. They also discuss the shocking explanations of why the majority of Lindsey Clancy's jurors refused to believe she should be imprisoned for strangling her three children.
